Rev. Paul Joseph Crosby, 85, of Spartanburg, went home to be with the Lord and reunite with his loving wife on Sunday, September 2, 2012. Born June 18, 1927, in Savannah, GA, he was the son of the late Nathan D. Crosby and Lurlene DuBois Crosby. Rev. Crosby was a member of Westgate Baptist Church, retired Pastor of Good News Baptist, served in the U. S Navy, was a graduate of Bob Jones University, and attended Wofford College for three years. He enjoyed working with the youth in church and also coached youth sports for many years. He loved spending time with his family but his special joy was loving and caring for his sweet wife. Survivors include his sons, Patrick Crosby, Paul A. Crosby, Phil Crosby, all of Spartanburg, and Joey Crosby of New Smyrna Beach, FL; daughters, Penny Hughes and Pamela Floyd, both of Spartanburg; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Peggy Crosby; and brothers, Nathan Crosby, Leon Crosby, and Norman Crosby. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Bill Bethea and the Rev. Chuck Thornton. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Westgate Baptist Church Youth Program, 1990 Old Reidville Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301; or Hospice Compassus, 1923 E. Main Street, Duncan, SC 29334.
