Rev. Jane Lynn Bright, 60, of Spartanburg County, died Monday, September 9, 2010 at her home. Born July 12, 1950 in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Mozelle Harmon Bright. Jane earned BA Degrees from Limestone College in French and English and a Master's Degree from Furman University in English. She was awarded a Doctor of Divinity Degree from Columbia Theological Seminary. She taught French in Spartanburg and Cherokee County schools. After seminary, she did a Chaplin Internship at Georgia Mental Health Institute in Atlanta, GA. She was called to work for the Presbyterian General Assembly Mission Division in Louisville, KY upon her ordination in the Presbyterian Church USA. She has served as Minister serving Calhoun Falls and John Calvin Presbyterian Churches. At the time of her death, she was serving Owings Presbyterian Church and also serving as Associate Chaplain with the Greenville Hospital System and volunteer Chaplain with the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office. She was a member of Foothills Presbytery. Jane touched many lives. She loved her four-legged animal friends whom she called her "babies" and her two-legged friends. Her many talents included singing, dancing, sewing, and cooking. She was a world traveler who left new friends in each place. Jane had a soft but strong voice and a soft and kind heart that brought a smile to all around her. She is already missed by all who loved her. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 24, 2010 at the Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg, conducted by Dr. George Wilkes, the Rev. Joe Brice, and the Rev. Dr. Tina Buchanan Woody. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Free Medical Clinic, P.O. Box 3466, Spartanburg, SC 29304; Second Presbyterian Church Soup Kitchen, 438 N.
