Reginald Smith

Reginald Earl Smith, 75, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born April 5, 1941, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Theron Blair and Wava Horton Smith. A 1964 graduate of Wofford College, Mr. Smith was president of Carolina Electric Company from 1967-1985. He also worked for Hoechst Celanese Corporation and J. Frank Blakely until his retirement in 2012. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his son, Mark L. Smith and wife Catherine; and brother, Jan Lowell Smith and wife Karen, all of Spartanburg, SC; one niece and three nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald Wayne Smith. Visitation will be 3:00-3:45 PM Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A service honoring his memory will follow at 4:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Sal Barone.
