Regina Brown

Regina Mardelle Brown, 77, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born December 15, 1936, in Rittman, OH, she was the daughter of the late Silvester Layfette Bachman and Cathryn Evans Bachman, and widow of Reverend Donald Brown. Mrs. Brown retired from the Findlay Ohio School system in 1998. Her teaching career spanned over 30 years, including orthopedically disabled, homeward bound and health impaired students in Ohio, Georgia and New York State school systems. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Spartanburg, SC. Regina was a certified hot air balloon pilot and enjoyed reading, quilting, traveling and preparing Cajun cuisine for her family. Surviving are her children: son, Donald Thomas Brown and wife Cathy Anne Brown and their three children, Christopher, Casey and Callie; daughters, Cathryn Elizabeth Brown and Rebekah Margret Brown Daniels and husband Marty Daniels and their children, Otto and Maxam; brothers, Zane Bachman of Rittman, OH, Richard Bachman of Norton, OH; and sisters, Sylvia Fry and Coleen Shankland, both of Doylestown, OH. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Byron Bachman. A memorial service will be conducted at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 6, 2014, at St. John's Lutheran Church, by The Rev. Michael Shackelford and The Rev. Emily Edenfield. Visitation will follow the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Parish Life Center, 415 S. Pine St., Spartanburg, SC 29302.
