Raymond "Ray" Rooke

Raymond H. Rooke, 70, of Spartanburg, SC died Monday, October 17, 2022 at his home. Born November 21, 1951 in Albany, NY, he was the son of the late Harry Edward and Anne Marie Tumonis Rooke.

Raymond was retired from the NY State Department of Transportation, after 33 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Spartanburg and Spartanburg Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Ray had a passion for classic cars and was a member of the NHRA for many years and the CNY MOPAR Association. He competed in various car shows around the country, but his proudest moment was receiving “Best in Show” for his 1972 Road Runner.

Survivors include his wife, Diny Allen Rooke of South Carolina; sons, Eric Rooke of South Carolina, and Keith Rooke of New Jersey; daughter, Pamela Rooke Schuyler of South Carolina; the greatest grandfather to Justice Schuyler, Briley Schuyler, Zeke Akagi and Evin Rooke, all of South Carolina; and his siblings, Edward Rooke of New York, Katherine Rooke and Marion Dell of Florida. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Patrick Rooke.

A Memorial service will be held Summer of 2023.
