Raymond “Bud” Lee Fowler, 90, of Spartanburg, SC died Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born July 6, 1931 in Gaston County, NC, he was the son of the late Claude Burris and Ella Louise Gregory Fowler.
A US Air Force veteran, Mr. Fowler graduated from Norwood High School in 1950, earned his Bachelor degree from Pfeiffer College in 1959 and his Masters degree from Appalachian State University in 1962. He was a member of SC Education Association, Marlboro County Shriner’s organization, and was a Mason for 66 years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Audrey Crabtree Fowler, his sons, Raymond L. “Rusty” Fowler, Jr. (Ammerrith) of St. George, SC, and Kelly Dean Fowler of Greer, SC, his daughters, Leslie Fowler Turner of Spartanburg, SC and Jennie Pierce “J.P.” Fowler Pohl (Eric) of Spartanburg, SC, granddaughters, Emily Turner Childers (Nathan) of Boiling Springs, Allison Fowler Turner of Lexington, SC, Madison Paige Pohl of Greenville, NC and Olivia Pierce Pohl of Spartanburg, SC, numerous nieces and nephews, his sister-in-law, Peggy Manning Fowler, and his last surviving sibling, his sister, Linda Fowler Parke (Bill) of Pinehurst, NC. Raymond was predeceased by his brothers, Robert Gene Fowler and Donald Flay Fowler.
A Memorial service will be at 1:00 PM Friday, February 11, 2022 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. Brian Gilmer.
