Raymond Waters, Jr.

Raymond Fredrick Waters, Jr., died Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at his home. Born July 9, 1932, in Palatka, Florida, he was the son of the late Ruby Mae Norman Waters and Raymond Fredrick Waters, Sr. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was retired from U. S. Airways. He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. He is survived by one son, Raymond Fredrick (Rick) Waters, III, and his wife, Pam, of Marietta, GA; one daughter, Joni Waters Burnette, and her husband, Tom, of Spartanburg, SC; one stepson, Samuel Shane Thacker, and his wife, Lorrie, of Durham, NC; three sisters, Joan Diver, and her husband, Marvin, of Palatka, FL, Janice Wall, and her husband, Bill, of Palatka, FL, and Vanessa Whalen, and her husband, Bill, of Savannah, GA. He is also survived by one grandson, Robert Forrest Waters, and his wife, Jessica, of Acworth, GA; and two granddaughters, Stacey Burnette Dobyns, and her husband, Paul, of Columbia, SC, and Leanne Waters Crawford, and her husband, Tyler, of Buford, GA. Visitation will be held at Mountain View Baptist Church, Cowpens, SC, on Saturday, January 14, 2012, from 1:00 to 2:30 PM. The service, officiated by Pastor Steven Griffith, will be held at 3:00 PM. Burial with military rites by the SC State Guard Honors Team will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
