Raymond Mathis

Raymond Mathis, 69, of 200 Lakeview Road, died Saturday, December 12, 2009, at his home. Born April 20, 1940, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Willie Newton and Minnie Seagle Mathis. He was self-employed at Cowpens Motor Company and a member of the First Baptist Church of Cowpens. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Margaret Mathis; a son, Randy R. Mathis; two granddaughters, Amanda R. Mathis and Amber Forrester, all of Spartanburg; and two brothers, Joe Edward Mathis and his wife Linda of Cowpens, and Burnise Newton and his wife Alice of Campobello. He was a predeceased by two brothers, Johnny Ray Mathis and Billy Hugh Mathis. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2009, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Ronell Owensby and the Rev. Bill Westafer.
