Randy T. Gregory, 63, of Spartanburg, SC, husband of Sheila Sanford Gregory, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016, following a brief illness. Born October 17, 1953, he was the son of the late Loyd Charles Gregory and Nelle Virginia Yelton Gregory. Randy was a guidance counselor and math teacher at Spartanburg Community College, having retired previously from teaching math and serving as head tennis coach at Boiling Springs High School. He was born in Spartanburg County, attended Spartanburg High School, and graduated from Clemson University in 1974. He received his Masters of Education Degree from Converse College in 1979 and also received a Masters Plus 30 Degree in Sports Psychology. Among his many accomplishments, Randy was named Herald-Journal Tennis Coach of the Year in 1989 and also received the Golden Apple Award for his teaching at Spartanburg Community College in 2006. In addition to his wife, Randy is survived by his daughter, Amy Daniels and husband Paul Parsons and a granddaughter, Jasper Elizabeth Parsons of Santa Cruz, CA. Also surviving is his brother, Max P. Gregory and wife Rita Gregory; niece, Lori Annen and husband Tony and their children, Colt, Jax, and Eva; nephew, Scott Gregory and his children, Peyton and Mary Foster. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 PM Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Thursday, December 8, 2016, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, by Jim Rentz, D. Min., Retired Pastoral Counselor, Retired Marriage-Family Therapist, Educator, and Mr. Kenny Harris. A private burial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family will be at the home at North River Hills, Spartanburg, SC.
