Ralph Campbell Shinta, 78, of Scruggs Avenue, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born May 24, 1931, in Piedmont, SC, he was the son of the late Joseph Francis and Ella Ree Miller Shinta. He was a retired maintenance supervisor at Converse College, a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church, and a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include three sons, Anthony D. Shinta and his wife Pamela of Lyman, Richard Neal Shinta of Hickory Tavern, and Joseph M. Shinta and his wife Dana of Boiling Springs; five grandchildren, Stephen Bernard, Adam Shinta, Kathryn Shinta, Mandi Bachelder, and Mallory Shinta; and a great-grandson, Cole Bernard. Visitation will be 3:00-3:45 p.m. Saturday, December 26, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Mitch Crow.
