Rachel Waters

Rachel Parris Waters, 73, went home to be with the Lord on March 31, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born March 16, 1939 in Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Miller Belton and Minnie Blackwell Parris. Mrs. Waters graduated from Chesnee High School and was a member of Boiling Springs First Baptist Church. She retired from Palmetto Eye and Laser Center, as the receptionist, with Dr. Michael Holmes and Dr. Robert Haas. With the help of her devoted husband, Rachel bravely battled Parkinson's disease for some 13 years. Mrs. Waters is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Harold Waters; daughter, Cynthia Hinson of Boiling Springs; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Waters of Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Victoria and Gregory Hinson of Boiling Springs, Timothy and Thomas Herzog of Grand Forks, ND; great-grandchildren, Isaiah Lee and Isabella Michelle Hinson; brother, Gettys Parris and wife Shirley of Gaffney; and sister, Alice Parris of Gaffney. She was predeceased by son, Michael David Waters and brother, Dewey Parris. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Northbrook Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Bennie Green, the Rev. Hank Williams, the Rev. Dr. James Crocker, and Dr. Michael Holmes. Entombment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Complex.
