Mrs. Rachel Ann Ford McMillan, 91, of Spartanburg, went home to be in the arms of her Lord on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at the Medical University of South Carolina. A native of Spartanburg, she was born on January 29, 1932, a daughter of the late James Ewart and Myrtle Moseley Ford and the wife of the late Lyster Brooks McMillan, Jr.
A member of the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg where she taught in the children’s Sunday school department, a former piano teacher and attended Winthrop and Converse colleges. She had worked with Southern Bell Telephone Company and the South Carolina Forestry Commission.
Surviving are her sons, Lyster Brooks McMillan, III (Nancy) of Roebuck and John Allen McMillan (Cindy) of Salisbury, NC; grandchildren, Cole McMillan, Daniel McMillan (Cassidy), Kevin McMillan (Jessica), Andrew McMillan (Lainey) and Leslie McMillan White (Aaron); great grandchildren, Rex White, Teddy White, Tate McMillan, Samuel McMillan, Lizzie McMillan, Emery McMillan, Owen McMillan, Ryland McMillan, Hadleigh McMillan and Emerson McMillan; a sister, Geneva Ford Padgett of Spartanburg.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Yvonne Ford McMillan, her siblings, Betty Ford Jones, Mary Alice Ford Fleming and John Charles Ford.
A visitation will be from 11:30 to 12:30 pm, Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm in the chapel, conducted by the Rev. Sal Barone. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
