Rachel Holliday

Rachel Genoble Holliday, 88, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born June 2, 1923, in Fairmont, SC, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Lillie Belle Wood Genoble, and wife of the late David P. Holliday, Jr. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Holliday retired as a U. S. Civil Service employee after 27 years of worldwide service. She was a member of Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Delene Lawless (Danny) of Charleston; sons, Kenneth Holliday (Judy) of Atlanta and Michael Holliday (Linda) of Spartanburg; 8 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 1:30-2:45 PM Friday, October 28, 2011, at Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM in the church, conducted by the Rev. D. J. Horton. Burial will be in Nazareth Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Moore, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church Building Fund, 4455 Anderson Mill Road, Moore, SC 29369. The family is at the home of her son, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Holliday, 648 Amesbury Lane, Spartanburg 29301.
