R. Scott Dawson, 49, died tragically in a plane crash on Tuesday, June 5, 2018. Born in Asheville, NC and raised in Boiling Springs, SC, he was the son of Don and Sue Dawson. Scott owned and operated CARS, Inc., an automobile detail and supply company. He was baptized in 1987 and was a faithful member of the Spartanburg North Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He cherished his privilege to serve as an elder in the congregation for many years. Many friends remember Scott as a "hiding place from the wind, a place of concealment from the rainstorm" (Isaiah 32.2). Scott was the heart and soul of his family, and as a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend, he will be deeply missed. In addition to his parents, Scott is survived by his wife, Beth Murdoch Dawson; children, Chandler Scott Dawson (Anna), Chase Murdoch Dawson, and Chloe Elizabeth Dawson; his sisters, April Geerken (Eric), and Melissa Dawson; nephews, Austin Stribling, Gavin Murdoch, and Christian Marmo; nieces, Lauren Murdoch and Charlotte Marmo; special in-laws, Robert and Martha Murdoch, Brian and Melissa Murdoch, and Robbie Stribling; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Alan Keith Dawson. Visitation will be 2:00-3:30 PM Sunday, June 10, 2018, at the Spartanburg Marriott Hotel, Heritage Ballroom, 299 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306, with a memorial service following at 4:00 PM, conducted by Brother Derek Gertzen.
