Polly Jane Williams Bridges, 91, passed away on Sunday morning, August 20, 2023, at her home. She was the daughter of the late, Andy Pink Williams and Nellie Champion Williams and wife to Troy Bridges of Spartanburg. She and Troy were married just ten days shy of their 70th wedding anniversary.
Polly worked for 34 years teaching at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind. She also worked as a dietician at the Pentagon in Washington, DC and hospitals in Charlotte, NC earlier in her career.
Polly was a longtime member of Morningside Baptist Church and especially loved working with children and teaching Sunday School.
In addition to her husband, Troy Bridges, she is survived by her son, Galen Bridges, daughter, Rita Duncan (Don), grandson, Chris Quinn (Jennie), great-grandsons, Wilson Quinn and Carter Quinn, and sister, Hazel Chappell (David Owens). She was preceded in death by her precious great-granddaughter, Emma Quinn, and siblings, Faye Williams, Syble Tolleson, Doug Williams, and Joe Williams.
The family appreciates the love and care provided by Agape Hospice as well as their dedicated in-home caregivers, Linda Stacey, Samantha Hawkins, Mary Valverde, Patty Hollifield, Yasmine Cruz, Rosa Hamet, Marilyn Greenwald, and Ericca Greenwald.
The family will receive friends, Friday, August 25, from 10:00 am until 10:45 am at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Polly’s Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am in the Chapel and interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
