Peter "Pete" William Postal Sr., 88, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born January 5, 1926, in Yonkers, NY, he was the son of the late William and Despina Bobotes Apostalakos, and husband of the late Bessie Diamantakos Postal. Pete was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. Pete graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1944. After graduation he volunteered to join the Army in June 1944 and served in Europe in the SHAEFF (Supreme Headquarters Allies Expeditionary Force) in Europe through the end of the war. In 1946, he attended Wofford College through 1948 and then transferred to the University of South Carolina. He graduated in 1951 and was a member of Lamba Chi Fraternity. He received his Law Degree from Augusta Law School. Pete retired in 1990 from State Farm Insurance Company after 33 years of service. Survivors include his sons, Peter William "PW" Postal Jr. (Pamela) and Lee Damon Postal (Melinda), all of Columbia, SC, and Russell Richard Postal of Spartanburg, SC; and grandchildren, Rhett Postal, Rachel Postal, Damon Postal, and Jordan Postal, all of Columbia, SC; and his sister, Ann Cottillion of Sarasota, FL. Visitation will be 6:30-8:00 PM Friday, January 10, 2014, with Trisagion Prayer at 7:30 PM, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 11, 2014, at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 697 Asheville Hwy, Spartanburg, SC 29303, by the Rev. George F. Nayfa. Burial, with military rites, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
