Peter Andrew Drozdak, 94, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, September 29, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born June 18, 1919, in Coaldale, PA, he was the son of the late Andrew and Sophie Didick Drozdak. A U. S. Army Air Force veteran, he earned a Bronze Star during his military service. Mr. Drozdak retired after 33 years of service with Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, CT as superintendent of manufacturing. He was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Advent in Spartanburg, and former member of Trinity Church in Myrtle Beach, SC. Mr. Drozdak was a portrait painter, wood carver, stained glass, and furniture maker. His hobbies were enjoyed by many different people. Surviving is his beloved wife of 67 years, Mary Mellon Drozdak; children, Dennis P. Drozdak (Jean) of Spartanburg, SC, and Annette D. Roland (Bob) of Jamestown, NC; grandchildren, Jennifer D. Stivers (Eddie) of Montgomery, AL, and Andrew D. Drozdak (Natasha) of Columbia, SC; great-grandchildren, Edward IV and Mary Parker Stivers. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by sisters and brothers, Helen D. Astrab, John Drozdak, Metro Drozdak, Martha D. Marshall, Sophie D. Kosa, and Vera D. Goukler. A graveside service with military rites by the SC State Guard Honors Team will be conducted at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 12, 2013, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Stephen Y. McGehee. Visitation will follow at the graveside.
