Perry Smith

Perry Harrell Smith, 88, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, June 23, 2019, at his home. Born July 22, 1930, in Bostic, NC, he was the son of the late Thomas Lee Smith and Annie Maude Harrell Smith and husband of the late Virginia "Jenny" Buchanan Smith. A U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Smith was a member and Deacon of Abner Baptist Church and retired from CSX Railroad after 43 years of service. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a son, Thomas Steven Smith; brothers, Terry Eugene Smith and Hal Smith; and sister, Ruth Robbins. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 AM Thursday, June 27, 2019, at Abner Baptist Church, 562 Andre Ln., Spartanburg, SC 29301, with funeral services following at 11:30 AM. Burial will be in Will Young Cemetery, 795 Hwy 80 S, Burnsville, NC 28714. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
