Peggy Steadman

Peggy Pauline Hammett Steadman, 91, of Spartanburg, SC died Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born May 20, 1930 in China Grove, NC, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Lonie Hill Hammett and was the wife of the late Thomas Lee Steadman.

Peggy was retired from the Spartanburg County School District 7, after serving with Evans Junior High, Pine Street Elementary and Jesse Boyd Elementary schools. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School class.

Survivors include her son, Tommy Steadman (Marie) of Chesnee, SC, her daughter, Pam McSwain of Moore, SC, four grandchildren, Rodney Parris (Dana), Travis Parris (Amy), Chris McSwain (Julie) and Jennifer Steadman; nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Along with her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by a great grandson, Caleb Parris, a brother, J. B. Hammett, and son-in-law, Ned McSwain.

Graveside service will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 10, 2022 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. Dr. Steven R. Owensby and The Rev. Jack Dodds. Visitation will be at the graveside.
