Peggy Robinson Scoggins, 75, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born July 11, 1938, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Essie and Evelyn White Robinson. A 1956 graduate of Jonesville High School and 1959 graduate of Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing, Mrs. Scoggins served her career as a registered nurse, having worked and taught at Spartanburg General Hospital and retired from the SC School Deaf and Blind after 28 years of service. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church where she was very active in numerous committees and leadership positions. Survivors include her husband, Carol Earle Scoggins; children, David Scoggins (Kelly) of Irmo, SC, and Lynn Gilliland (Doug) of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Daniel Scoggins, Cole Scoggins, Matthew Gilliland (Sara); great-grandson, Drew Gilliland; brothers, Dennis Robinson and Phil Robinson, both of Jonesville, SC; and sister, Brenda Dillard of Jonesville, SC. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a twin brother, Harold Robinson. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 22, 2014, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Jim Harrison and the Rev. Richard Lewis. Visitation will follow at the graveside. Memorials may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 105 McKay Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family is at the home.
