Peggy Owings

Peggy Jeanne Owings, 89, of Morganton, NC passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013, at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care Center. Born November 12, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Floy Cudd and Jessie Smith Nelson and wife of the late Raymond Calvert Owings, Sr. She was a former member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg and current member of First Baptist Church of Morganton. She was an avid bridge player and a member of a group called The Happy Eight Bridge Club. Surviving are children, Terry Owings McGough and husband Bill of Morganton, NC, Moni Owings Trott and husband Larry of Statesville, NC, Raymond Calvert Owings, Jr. and wife Dianna of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Norwood Daly Owings and wife Diane of Apopka, FL; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Pam Biggins Owings; and a great-granddaughter, Polly Lynn Dawson. Graveside services will be at 12:00 PM Saturday, December 7, 2013, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Tom Bland.
