Peggy George Brewington, 82, of Spartanburg, SC, went to be with the Lord on March 2, 2017 at her home. Born March 26, 1934 in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late John N. George, Sr. and Anna Lucille Wheat George. She was the widow of LeRoy Brewington. She was predeceased by a son, Steven LeRoy Brewington and his wife, Ronda; brothers, Thomas George; Bill George, John George, Jr., Harold George; sisters, Nellie Whitford, Margaret Cothran, Anna Ruth Smith. Peggy was the owner/operator of Brewington Plumbing Co. and former co-owner of Brewington Ambulance Co. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church and a member of the Choir. Highlights of her life were being a majorette at Wofford College and caring for the neighborhood stray animals. Peggy was a graduate of Cecil's Business College. Survivors include a grandson, Lanndon Brewington (Vickie) of Tryon, NC; two great granddaughters, Ashley Brewington Bryant and Alicia Brewington; great great-granddaughter, Gwendolyn Carol Bryant; nieces and nephews, COL (Ret.) James D. George; Cathy Martin, Ronnie Whitford, Phyllis Emory; Diane Lanford; Robbie Stephens-Dunagin; Susan Morris; Tom George, Jr.; Karen Vassey; Joey George; Al George; Phillip George; Eddie Smith; Martha Kean; Jean Creech; Mike Smith; COL (Ret.) Jay George; BG (P) John A. George; and Jennifer E. Cook. Visitation will be 1:00 - 2:30 PM Monday, March 6, 2017 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral service will be 3:00 PM at the chapel, conducted by the Rev. David B. Howell. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303; The Soup Kitchen, 136 South Forest Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306 or Second Presbyterian Church, 439 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
