Pedro Acosta Sr.

Mr. Pedro Nel Acosta, 65, of Inman, died Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born July 1, 1946, in Bogota, Colombia, he was the son of Luis Ramon Acosta of Bogota, Colombia, and the late Cecilia Ardila Acosta. Mr. Acosta was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Spartanburg. He was employed for 25 years as a machinist with Honeywell. While in Bogota, he graduated with a degree in Public Administration from the University of Bogota Jorge Tadeo Lozano Class of 1969, worked 10 years for the Ministry of Public Works, and was the president of the Ministry of Public Works Cycling Club. Survivors include his loving wife, Luz Mary Acosta; children and grandchildren, Pedro Acosta and his wife Donna of Inman, SC, and their children, Pedro Gabriel, Samantha, Camren, Landon, Ryan, Cecilia, Donaven, and Miguel; Carlos Alberto Acosta and his wife Christine of Inman, SC, and their children, Raul, Alexis, Ricky, Christian; Maria Cristina Edmund and her husband Richard of Inman, SC, and their children, Victoria Elizabeth and Casey Nicole; Monica Alexandra Chenoweth and her husband Robert John of Middletown, NJ, and their children, Luis Alexy, Alexandra Berlin, Robert Liam, Riley Elizabeth, Luke Gavin, and Gabriella Marie; Nelson Adrian Acosta and his wife Lyn of Boiling Springs, SC, and their children, Ethan, David, Natalie, and Eva; Paul Steven Acosta and his wife Jessica of Charleston, SC, and their children, Paul Anthony, Valarie Renee, and Layla Camille; and his brothers and sisters in Colombia, Fabiola Acosta, Cristina Acosta, Eugenia Sanches, Doris Acosta, Carlos Acosta, Diego Acosta, Alfredo Acosta, Consuelo Perez, Gabriel Acosta, Luis Acosta, Diana Satizabal, and Caroline Acosta. Visitation will be 3:00-9:00 PM Friday, March 2, 2012, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 12:00 noon Saturday, March 3, 2012, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, by the Rev. Henry Gonzales. Entombment will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, March, 5, 2012, in Good Shepherd Memorial Park.
