Pearl Hodge

September 18, 1932 — February 21, 2016

Pearl Eva Ingle Hodge, 83, of the Drayton Community, died Sunday, February 21, 2016, at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care. Born September 18, 1932, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Talmadge and Eva Sara Payne Ingle and widow of Hames Ray Hodge and William "Bill" George. Mrs. Hodge, a graduate of Cecil's Business College and Spartanburg Technical College, was a gifted seamstress and designer. She worked as a clothing designer with Butte Knit for 28 years, after having worked as a department manager for the A&P Floral Department and later was co-owner of Kenway Florist for many years. She was a charter and Board member of Bible Truth Chapel, and loved her Lord, family, church and all animals. Survivors include her daughter, Sara Hodge Young and her companion Tommie Dorsey; stepdaughter, Laura Harris; grandson, Christopher Brian Young and his companion Tiffany Tharp, all of Spartanburg; grandson, Joshua Lee Young of the home; great-grandchildren, Tyler Brian Young, Bryson Ian Young, and Trinity Grace Young; sister, Eunice Mae Ingle Smith of Inman, SC; and beloved Chihuahua's, Peanut and Boots. In addition to her parents and husband's, she was predeceased by a brother, Charles Ingle. Funeral and committal services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Rick Lunsford and the Rev. David Biggs. Visitation will follow the service at the Chapel. Private burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
