Pauline Gossett

Pauline "Polly" Hester Gossett, 82, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, October 15, 2016, at home, surrounded by her family. Born April 5, 1934, in Shelby, NC, she was the daughter of the late Paul Atkinson Hester and Ola Sims Hester. Mrs. Gossett loved life, her family, and gardening. She was an avid flea marketer, loved going to the beach, and was an excellent swimmer and diver. As a teenager, she worked at The Goody Shop. In her adult years, she worked as a seamstress at several sewing factories, retiring from S&S Manufacturing Company. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Robert Eugene Gossett; daughters, Robin Clary (David) of Gaffney, SC and Karen Lucktenberg (Ted) of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Jennifer Stewart (Dave), Matt Clary, Jake Clary, Stuart Lucktenberg, and Hope Lucktenberg; great-grandchildren, Audrey Stewart and Joshua Stewart; two nieces, whom she helped raise, Sonya Gardiner (Jim) and Ann Mize (Mark). In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by infant daughters, Robbie Jean Gossett and Teresa Dale Gossett; and brothers, Gerald Hester and Paul "Sonny" Hester. Visitation will be 1:30 - 2:45 PM Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Glenn Rusher and the Rev. Allen Elder. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303 or Bethany Baptist Church, 622 Alamo St, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
