Paul Parker, Sr.

Paul W. "Pa" Parker, Sr., 93, of Spartanburg, died Thursday, December 30, 2010 at White Oak Estates. Born July 7, 1917 in Pacolet, SC, he was the son of the late Albert Lee and Mary E. Bonds Parker and the husband of the late Flossie Louise Johnson Parker. He retired from Arkwright Mill after 47 years of service and was a member of Tate Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Betty L. Thompson and husband Jimmy Huss of Pacolet; a son, Boyce D. Parker and wife Linda of Saxon; a daughter-in-law Carolyn Pruitt; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous extended family. He was predeceased by two sons, Joe Dan Parker, and Paul W. Parker, Jr. and his wife Norma; three infants that died at birth; a grandson, Tommy Holt; a son-in-law, Frank Holt; two brothers, Alton and John Parker; a sister, Estelle Hammett; as well as numerous extended family. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2011 at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Randy Burgess and the Rev. Dennis Tessnier. Burial will be in White Rose Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 110 Dillon Drive Spartanburg, SC 29307; or to Tate Memorial Baptist Church, P.O. Box 88, Pacolet, SC 29372. The family wishes to express special appreciation to the staff of White Oak Estates.
