Paul Lawson

Paul James "PJ" Lawson, 92, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born March 13, 1925, in Friendship, SC, he was the son of the late Fletcher and Amelia Smith Lawson. A 1944 graduate of Pauline High School, Mr. Lawson loved the Lord and enjoyed reading his Bible. His love of the Lord and the church, he was an Ordained Minister of various churches. He was a member of Beaver Hills Baptist Church and retired from Willard Oil Company. He enjoyed purchasing produce from the Farmers Market and then selling it, giving him the opportunity to share the word of God and his love of friends and family. He was a kind, sincere, devoted husband, father and grandfather, whose smiling face brought joy to those he touched. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Mary Fowler Lawson; children, Kathy Owings, Sandra Good, and Marvin Lawson (Lynn), all of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Randall Lawson, Brian Lawson, Tammy Allison, and Tracy Yarborough; great-grandchildren, Ariel, Logan, Noah, Brianna, Madison, Landon, McCarley, Kailyn, Brayden, Jay, Kristen, Reece, and Rhett; and great-great-granddaughter, Kora; and brother, Joney Lawson. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers and one sister. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 PM Sunday, February 18, 2018, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306, with funeral services following at 3:00 PM, conducted by The Rev. Larry Lancaster, The Rev. Garold Thomas, and The Rev. Roger Allison. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Pallbearers will be Randall Lawson, Brian Lawson, Shawn Allison, Johnny Lee, Marvin Floyd and Ray Ridgeway.
