Paul Allison Garrett, Sr., 87, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, December 29, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born March 2, 1927, in Cherokee County, NC, he was the son of the late William Robert and Ada Kapart Garrett. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Garrett was a member of Central Baptist Church of Cowpens and a lifetime member of Cowpens Masonic Lodge #210. He retired from Draper Corporation after 28 years of service. Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Opal Pearson Garrett; two sons, Terry Wayne Garrett and his wife Jeanne Gregory Garrett of Rutherfordton, NC, and Jerry Blane Garrett and his wife Sarah Farr Garrett of Spartanburg, SC; daughter-in-law, Valerie Miller Garrett of Cowpens, SC; six grandchildren, Adah Garrett Richardson (Jeremy), Gregory Garrett (Amanda), Amanda Garrett Boyd (Shane), Christopher Garrett, Katie Garrett McKay (Matt), and Lauren Garrett Reeves (Joey); 12 great-grandchildren; and niece, JoAnn Coyle of Cowpens, SC. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Paul Allison Garrett, Jr.; four brothers; and two sisters. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, January 1, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, January 2, 2015, at Central Baptist Church of Cowpens, 126 E. Church St., Cowpens, SC 29330, by the Rev. Allen Dean Blanton. Burial will be in Daniel Morgan Memorial Gardens, 175 Cemetery St., Cowpens, SC 29330. Flowers will be accepted.
