Patsy Jo Price Melton, 77, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Cowpens, SC, went to be with her Lord on Monday, September 3, 2012. She was born in Victoria, Texas, March 24, 1935, to the late Wade Hardeman and Ethel Olivia Price. Patsy graduated from Patti Welder High School where she was active in school choirs. She married Richard Gerald "Buck" Melton in 1954 after meeting him at Foster Air Force Base in Victoria, TX. She was singing and playing the piano and "Buck" was smitten. It was during this time that Gerald surrendered to the ministry. Patsy attended the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor prior to becoming a pastor's wife, homemaker, and mother. Patsy and Gerald welcomed three daughters into their family; Rebekah Ann, Paula Jean, and Tammy Ruth. Patsy and Gerald served together as pastor and pastor's wife in churches in Texas, North and South Carolina before returning to Cowpens, SC, to be Director of Peniel Prayer Center. Patsy is survived by her daughters, Rebekah Ann and Robert Kyle, Paula Jean and Victor Little of Monroe, NC, and Tammy Ruth Melton of Cowpens, SC. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Dr. Kristy Kyle of Houston, TX, Robert Gerald Kyle of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Amber Austin of Monroe, NC, and Adam Little of Southport, NC. She is also survived by one great-grandson, Townes Harvey Kyle-Robbins of Houston, TX. Her surviving siblings are brothers, Rev. T. Wayne Price of Refugio, TX, Robert "Bob" Price of Harrington, DE, and one sister, Sharon Shillings of Richardson, TX. Visitation will be 1:30-2:45 PM Friday, September 7, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dennis Spencer. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, Patsy has requested memorials be made to Bible Broadcasting Network (BBN), PO Box 7300, Charlotte, NC 28241; or Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region-Uptown, 1420 East Seventh Street, Charlotte, NC 28204. The family would like to especially thank Ann Harvey of Boiling Springs, SC, for her many years of loving care to both our parents, Patsy and Gerald. Because of Ann's faithful service, they were allowed to remain together in their home as long as was possible. "Thank you Ann. You will forever be part of our family."
