Patrick Kenneth McCormick, 33, of Dorchester, MA, died Tuesday, February 7, 2017. Born March 4, 1983, in Strong, ME, he was the son of Paul Kenneth McCormick and Dori Siedsma McCormick. Patrick lived his formative years in the Maine countryside, a simple life of woodlands, swimming, boating and fishing. An endless stream of friends graced the home. Living close to his country school, he often walked home as he read a book. He always exhibited a love of order and numbers, even simply writing pages of numbers and reading math textbooks in his spare time as an adult. He was completing a degree in Health Informatics as he worked in the Boston insurance industry as a Systems Analyst. He had a keen mind, quick wit and tender soul, being quietly generous. He once grew his hair out to "pay it forward" for cancer survivors telling very few people through the process, having lost an auntie and grandfather to cancer. He also was a Big Brother to a young man in Boston. Though living a spartan lifestyle in small Boston apartments, family memorabilia were among his prized possessions. A Celtic tattoo honored his Irish heredity, and he wore the numbers of Grampa Siedsma's military dogtags in another tattoo. More recently he had an additional tattoo to honor Grandpop McCormick's passing. He attended school at China Elementary School, Erskine Academy in South China, Maine, City College in Wanganui, New Zealand, Simon's Rock in Barrington, Mass and a stint at Boston School of Architecture. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Molly McCormick, Jesse Meek and their son, Jasper, grandmother, Dawn McCormick, aunties and uncles: Barb and Sam Nantogmah, Sally Russell McCormick, Sheryl McCormick, Mark McCormick, Janet Tomuri, Gary McCormick and Katherine Cottier and cousins around the world. Patrick was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Kenneth McCormick, his maternal grandparents Ben and Betty Siedsma and auntie Beverly Siedsma Vasquez. He left footprints in Ireland, the States, New Zealand and our hearts. A gathering will be held at the Jane Winston Chapel in Wanganui, New Zealand on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 4.30 with words of comfort and prayer at 5.30. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Cape Elizabeth United Methodist Church, 280 Ocean House Road, Cape Elizabeth, Maine at 2 pm with reception to follow. Patrick had an incredible love and affinity for animals, leaving behind 2 dogs. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Boston www.arlboston.org.
