Patrick Baird

Patrick Ryan "Rick" Baird, 32, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, May 13, 2017 in Spartanburg, SC. Born August 21, 1984 in Charlotte, NC, he was the son of Gregory McDowell and Vickie Rogers Baird of Boiling Springs. Patrick was a 2003 Graduate of Boiling Springs High School. Patrick proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was deployed with the 15th MEU during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006-2007. As a student of the University of South Carolina-Upstate, he was a Studio Art major. He was a member of First Baptist - North Spartanburg. Survivors include his wife, Samantha Suarez Baird, unborn daughter, Viviana Jolee Baird; parents, Gregory McDowell and Vickie Rogers Baird of Boiling Springs; sister, Sarah Bennett (Joshua) of Columbia; brother, Thomas Baird (Hannah) of Spartanburg; paternal grandparents, Clyde H. and Barbara Smith Baird of Morganton, NC; maternal grandmother, Thelma Hazel Rogers of Boiling Springs; and his canine buddy, "Ziggy." Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at First Baptist North Spartanburg, 8740 Asheville Highway, Spartanburg, SC 29316. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the church, conducted by the Rev. Michael Hamlet and eulogy by Mr. Robin Caldwell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the scholarship fund set up for his daughter, Viviana, born July 2017.
