Patricia Mary Hynes McCormack, 83, of Spartanburg and Hilton Head Island, SC, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at Hilton Head Regional Medical Center. Born April 7, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Mary Greaney Hynes. Pat is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, John F. McCormack, and their five children. She embraced her children's spouses with such love that she considered them her children as well: John and Becky McCormack of Lexington, SC, Laurie and Rick Murphy of Pickens, SC, Donna and Ken Murphy of Pawleys Island, SC, Kay Kay and Ray Wells of Pawleys Island, SC, and Kevin and Greta McCormack of Spartanburg, SC; especially dear to her heart are her 12 grandchildren: Adam Farrar, Taylor and Stephen McCormack, Wesley and Elliot Murphy, Marshall, Chandler, and Lawson Murphy, Raymond and Crayton Wells, and Karly and Mally McCormack; she is also survived by her two beloved sisters and their husbands, Peggy and Francis McCormack, and Mary and Bill Schlichtman; her sister-in-law, Elaine Hynes; along with 31 nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her adored daughter, Patricia Ann Farrar; brother, John Hynes; and dear friends, Fran and Mary. Pat graduated from St. Saviour High School and attended Hunter College, both in New York. After marrying John, they relocated to several cities with his career as a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation before settling in Spartanburg, SC in 1957. She loved attending various functions with her extended family of the Former Special Agents of the F.B.I. and their spouses. Pat cherished time with her husband at their second home in Hilton Head Island, SC. As a devoted Catholic, Pat was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Spartanburg for 56 years and a regular visitor of Holy Family Catholic Church in Hilton Head Island for 30 years. Pat lived each day with love and trust in the Lord. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, June 21, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 22, 2013, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 161 N. Dean St., Spartanburg, SC 29302, by the Rev. Timothy M. Gahan. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Pallbearers are her grandsons, Marshall Murphy, Taylor McCormack, Adam Farrar, Raymond Wells, Wesley Murphy, Elliot Murphy, and Stephen McCormack. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church Building Fund, 161 North Dean Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or Tidewater Hospice, 10 Buckingham Plantation Drive, Suite A, Bluffton, SC 29910.
