Patricia Miller

Patricia Godfrey Miller, 87, of Pauline, SC, passed from earthly life to Eternal Life on Thursday, July 20, 2017, at her home. Born December 14, 1929, in Gaffney, SC, she was the daughter of the late William Edward and Sara Davis Godfrey. A 1947 graduate of Gaffney High School and a 1950 graduate of Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing, Mrs. Miller lived a life of quiet service as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and neighbor. She loved the land, and with her husband made a beautiful homeplace, cooking, gardening, canning, freezing, and hosting the weekly Sunday lunch for the family and friends she so loved. Laughter and love abounded around her table. Mrs. Miller's career as a registered nurse at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center spanned over 40 years. She was known for her respectful and compassionate treatment of patients and their families. In her community, she was a faithful encouraging member of Philadelphia Baptist Church in Pauline, where she was active in the Fidelis Sunday School Class as well as the Legacy Group. Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Robert Gregory Miller; children, Gregg Miller (Linda) and Diane M. Owings (Carroll) of Pauline, SC; grandchildren, Frank Miller (Kara) of Fort Mill, SC, Mark Miller (Emily) of Spartanburg, SC, Kyle Owings (Ashley) and Kurt Owings (Sarah) of Pauline, SC; great-grandchildren, Grady Miller, Murray Miller, Bristol Miller, and Miller Owings; sisters, Joyce Martin, Jackie Crawford, and special sister-in-law, Becky Godfrey, all of Gaffney, SC. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Jim Godfrey, Frances Martin, Derek Godfrey, Kay Bolf; and by her beloved granddaughter, Janna Miller. The family wishes to convey heartfelt appreciation for the staff of 5-West at SRMC. Each person involved in Mrs. Miller's care brought the highest standard in respect and tenderness. The family thanks the SRMC Hospice team as well. They provided physical, emotional and spiritual support, helping to make this heartbreaking journey one filled with blessings. Funeral services will take place Sunday, July 23, 2017 3:00 PM, at Philadelphia Baptist Church, 3119 Hwy 56, Pauline, SC 29374. Pastor Greg Butler, Pastor Charles Eaton, and Pastor Shawn Shipman will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Following the burial, the family will receive friends in the Family Life Center. Memorials may be made to Philadelphia Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 220, Pauline, SC 29374.
