Pastor Barry Snead, 58, of Boiling Springs, SC, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014. Born May 16, 1956, in Danville, VA, he was the son of the late Rodney Easley and Lynwood Motley Snead. Pastor Snead served as youth pastor at Hillcrest Baptist Church, San Angelo, TX, as pastor at Fuller Memorial Baptist Church in Martinsville, VA, as interim pastor at various churches in Spartanburg, and most recently as pastor at Drayton Baptist Church. He had a passion for his Lord Jesus Christ, his family and the persecuted church. He loved music and playing trumpet, was incredibly generous, loved to laugh and tell jokes. Survivors include his loving wife, Glenda Nolan Snead; sons, Caleb Snead (JoAnna), Jared Snead (Victoria), and Micah Snead, all of Spartanburg, SC; brothers, Roderick Snead (Eileen) of Fort Worth, TX, David Snead (Kim) of Chesapeake, VA, and Daryl Snead of Danville, VA; sisters, Janet White (Kirke) of Norfolk, VA, and Deborah Snead of Fort Worth, TX; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, September 4, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Friday, September 5, 2014, at Southside Baptist Church, 316 S. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306, by the Rev. David M. Blanton and the Rev. Dr. Doyce H. Nolan. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 7, 2014, in Highland Burial Park, Danville, VA, by the Rev. Julian Motley. Memorials may be made to The Gideon's International, PO Box 3103, Spartanburg, SC 29304. The family is at the home.
