Orin Watt Beach, Sr., 80, of 175 Buckstone Lane, died Friday, March 27, 2009, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home after a brief illness. Born June 10, 1928, in Walterboro, SC, he was the son of the late Ellis Calhoun and Louise Herndon Beach and the husband of 60 years to Virginia Scruggs Beach. He attended Wofford College and graduated from Limestone College. Mr. Beach was president and past owner of Crown Chemical Company, Dixie Body and Truck Equipment, and Carolina Cranes and Liftgates. He was an active member and former steward of Trinity United Methodist Church. He previously served on the Board of Trustees at Limestone College and was a past board member of The National Sanitary Supply Association. Mr. Beach was a former member of the Jaycees and the Breakfast Optimist Club, a life member of St. John's Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple. He previously served as assistant Scout Master of Troop 22, Trinity United Methodist Church. Mr. Beach was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed golf, hunting, and fishing. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Orin W. Beach, Jr. (Beth) of Spartanburg, and Mylnor S. Beach (Kathy) of Boiling Springs; three granddaughters, Julia Elizabeth (Betsy) Beach of Columbia, Tonya Michelle Beach and Amanda Louise Beach, both of Boiling Springs; and his sister, Barbara B. Heath of Walterboro. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2009, at Trinity United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. T. Lee Bryant and the Rev. A. Mickey Fisher. Committal will be private. Honorary Escort will be members of the John Nicholson Sunday School Class.
