Opal Sutton Jennings, 80, of 701 South Sweetwater Hills, died Saturday, April 18, 2009, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born November 27, 1928, in Bonnie Blue, VA, she was the daughter of the late Grant and Eva Morrison Sutton and widow of Fred Jennings, Jr. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include a son, Wayne Jennings and wife Patricia I. Jennings of Pacolet; a daughter, Teresa Jennings Ray and husband Ronnie H. Ray of Lyman; four grandchildren, Allison Cartee, Rodney Ray, Paige McDonald, and David Jennings; seven great-grandchildren, Parker, Lexi and Justin Ray, Ashby and Abbi Cartee, Logan and Tyler McDonald; two sisters, Billie Joyce Gribble of Rosman, NC, and Dorothy Connor of Newberry, SC; and four brothers, Alvin Sutton, Willie Ray Sutton, Kenneth Paul Sutton, and Melvin Sutton, all of Whitmire, SC; and caregiver and special friend, Josephine Peake. She was predeceased by two sisters, Meda Boughnight and Edith Ruff. Visitation will be 11:00-11:45 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Tim Clark. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at their respective homes.
