Ollie Lee Alexander Sims, 98, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at St. Francis Hospital-Eastside. Ollie was born December 20, 1921 in New Zion, SC, a daughter of the late Martha Jane Brown Alexander and Arthur Jennings Alexander. She was the loving wife of the late Carnell Sims for 60 years. With the exception of a daughter, Diane Sims Lucas, and a grandson, Hampton Lucas, Ollie outlived her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Raymond Jackson Alexander (Bessie Kate), Edith Brown Alexander Hall (Charles), AJ Alexander (Virginia) and Florence Marie Alexander White (Mason). She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Spartanburg where she was best known for making her famous pound cakes for St. Luke's church meals. Ollie most loved being with her church friends and family, and it would be hard to find a person who didn't also love her. She was also an accomplished fisherwoman, gardener and cook. The family will receive friends from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. James C. Hilton. Burial will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Filbert, SC.
