Beloved mother and dear friend, Ollie Tanner Justus, 98, of Charlottesville, VA, died Saturday, August 13, 2011, at Gibson Adult Care Home, Crozet, VA. She was born in Rutherfordton, NC, August 16, 1912, and grew up in Chesnee, SC. Mrs. Justus was a graduate of Winthrop College, Rock Hill, SC. She was an elementary school teacher and librarian in grammar schools in Piedmont, SC, Sumter, SC, North Charleston, SC, and at Clark Air Force Base, Philippine Islands. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she was an active member of Circle #6 and her Sunday school class. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Justus Cahill of Charlottesville, VA; one niece, Carolyn Tanner Ginn of Goose Creek, SC; and five nephews, Keisler Tanner of Chesnee, SC, Kenneth Lawson of Inman, SC, Cryon Lawson of South Charleston, WV, Max Hamrick and Robert Hamrick of Boiling Springs, NC. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, John Hamilton Justus; her parents, Keisler Columbus Tanner and Carrie V. McKinney Tanner, her sisters, Mary Lawson, Martha Gardner, Lena Hamrick; and her brother, Walter K. Tanner. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by the Rev. David E. Nichols. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. She will be remembered by those who knew her for her love and compassion for her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by her relatives and friends.
