Olin Daniel Thomson, 79, of Spartanburg, died Monday, December 19, 2011, at his home. Born May 8, 1932, in Sumter, SC, he was the son of the late Sue Broadway Thomson. Mr. Thomson was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was vice president of construction for Spartan Foods and oversaw the construction of the Spartan Foods Tower in Spartanburg, as well as, the Panther's Stadium in Charlotte, NC. A longtime faithful member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg he served for many years as an usher. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Nenita Wheeler Thomson; son, Olin (Daniel) Thomson, Jr. and his wife Margaret of Charlotte, NC; daughters, Karon Corbin and husband Richard, and Sharon MacDonald and husband Harry, all of Spartanburg; granddaughters, Monica Bradley of Spartanburg, Mary Lawrence Thomson and Suzanna Maris Thomson, both of Charlotte; and great-grandson, Corbin Bradley of Spartanburg. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 21, 2011, in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, by the Rev. Dr. Donald J. Wilton, the Rev. Dr. Alastair C. Walker, and the Rev. Sal Barone. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, 250 E.
