Olin Thomas Hodge, 92, formerly of 6221 S. Pine Street, Pacolet, SC, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 18, 2010, at RoseCrest Retirement Center. Born September 5, 1918, in Pacolet Mills, he was a son of the late Claude and Thelma Harrold Hodge. He was a machinist with Pacolet Mills Manufacturing for 25 years and retired from Robinette Machinery in Pacolet. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion, the first Fire Chief of the Pacolet Mills Voluntary Fire Department, and a former baseball player with the Pacolet Mills Trojans. He was a lifetime member of Montgomery Memorial United Methodist Church, where he held the following positions at different times during his life: Lay Leader, Lay Speaker, Chairperson of Church Council, Chairperson of Pastor Parish Relations Committee, Lay Delegate to Annual Conference, Sunday School teacher, Choir member, Trustee, President of the United Methodist Men's Club, and a member of the Finance Committee. For his years of service as a Sunday School teacher, a class was named in his honor and he also received the honor of Lay Leader Emeritus. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Joy Wilson Hodge; a daughter, Pamela Hodge Sinclair (Don) of Lancaster, SC; three sons, Michael Terry Hodge (Carolyn) of Pacolet, Thomas Russell Hodge (Nell) of Seneca, SC, and John E. Hodge (Peggy) of Woodruff; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Jimmy Hodge of Atlanta, GA; and two sisters, Minnie Pace of Spartanburg and Jean Smith of Greenville, SC. Visitation will be 1:30-2:45 PM Tuesday, September 21, 2010, in the sanctuary of Montgomery Memorial United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM in the sanctuary, conducted by the Rev. Kelly Gallamore and the Rev. Herb Stephens. Burial will be in Pacolet Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Eddie Smiley, Bobby Fowler, George Gentry, Johnny Bogan, Billy Gossett, John McGaha, Mitchell Wells, and Jeff McGaha.
