Odette Caldwell Beason Smith, 96, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at her home. Born December 25, 1918, in Westview, SC, she was the daughter of the late Jessie Valentine Caldwell and Eva Iris Steadman Caldwell. Mrs. Smith was retired from C&S National Bank after 30 years of service. A former Miss Spartanburg, she was also a member of Cedar Springs Baptist Church, an active volunteer in the community, an avid gardener, and enjoyed the beauty of God's creation. Survivors include her daughters, Cheryl Pack (Rusty) of Boiling Springs, SC and Mimi B. Smith (Rick) of Spartanburg, SC; step-daughter, Boog Henderson (Howard) of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Sherri Ragon (Hugh), Connie Sellers (Brandon), and Kasey Smith Wood (Craig); great-grandchildren, Madison Kimsey, Haley, and Hudson Ragon, Drew, Brayden, and Ellison Sellers, Craig and Graham Wood; and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved very much. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, B. S. Beason and second husband, Rupert Powell Smith. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, March 20, 2015, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Todd Lowe. Visitation will follow at the graveside. Memorials may be made to Cedar Springs Baptist Church, 140 Cedar Springs Place, Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family is at the home.
