Octavia Petty

Octavia Smith Petty, 85, died Friday, January 16, 2015, at her home. She was born January 8, 1930 in Lyman, she was the daughter to the late Walter Marshall and Lois Tuck Smith. Mrs. Petty graduated from Byrnes High School and Cecil's Business College, and was retired from Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. She enjoyed playing the piano, square-dancing, and loved gardening. Her greatest joy was her family. Surviving are her loving husband of 63 years, Jones Lee Petty, sons, Barry (Cindy) Petty of Spartanburg, Otis (Ellen) Petty of Inman, daughter, Sherra (Ray) Harrison of Seneca; granddaughters, Michelle, Nicole, Stacey, Katie, Karie; grandson, Bradley; great-granddaughters, Cheyanne, Lily, and Paisley; and great-grandsons, Cody, Stephen, Chase, Micah, Mason and Ben. She was predeceased by a brother, Norris Smith. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 18, 2015, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Jack Caldwell. Visitation will follow at the graveside. The family will be at the home of J.L. Petty. Memorials may be made to El Bethel United Methodist Church, General Fund, 820 S.
