Norman Lee Simmons, 84, of Roebuck, SC, died Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born April 29, 1931, in Spindale, NC, he was the son of the late Gaines Odell and Annie Belle McDaniel Simmons. A veteran of the U. S. Marine Corp, Mr. Simmons served as a tank commander during the Korean War. He was a member of Stone Station Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday School teacher and deacon. He retired from Kohler Company as a Casting Foreman. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Lucille Quinn Simmons of the home; son, Bobby Simmons (Susan) of Chesnee, SC; grandson, Marcus Simmons of Spartanburg, SC; sister-in-law, Dorothy Thomas (Ernest) of Roebuck, SC; and brother-in-law, Wofford Quinn (Phyllis) of Enoree, SC. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Randy Lewis. Burial, with military rites, will be in Eternal Hills Cemetery, 1565 Oakland Rd., Forest City, NC 28043. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rock Solid Church, 1326 Union Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family is at the home.
