Norman Meekins

Norman "Dick" Meekins, 85, of Tryon, NC, died Saturday, June 24, 2017, at his home. Born May 20, 1932, in Dillon County, SC, he was the son of the late Oakley L. and Lonia Hayes Meekins. A U. S. Air Force veteran, Mr. Meekins loved his family and enjoyed camping and the beach. He attended Beaumont Baptist Church and was retired from Brock Construction. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Betty Searcy Meekins; children, Ava Sue McKnight of Texas, Linda Scarinzi of Spartanburg, SC, Brenda Mann of Lexington, NC, Wayne Meekins (Anne), Ellen Durham (Len), and Donna Gosnell (Ron), all of Spartanburg, SC; step-children, Greg Kyzer (Abby) of Spartanburg, SC and Vicki Plemmons (Tom) of Inman, SC; 21 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; and sister, Pat Jones of High Point, NC. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Miller Meekins; grandson, Ricky Lewis; sisters, Pauline Arrington, Ethel McDaniel, Faye Mintz, and Gertrude Blackman; and brothers, Olin Meekins and Harold Meekins. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, by the Rev. Steven McClain and the Rev. Jerry Phillips. Burial, with military rites, will be in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens, 4081 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beaumont Baptist Church, 945 Beaumont Avenue, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at the home of Betty Meekins.
