Norman Horne

Norman Denny Horne, 83, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born September 26, 1927, in Polk County, NC, he was the son of the late Fred and Pauline Whiteside Horne. Mr. Horne loved to farm and garden. He was a member of Drayton Baptist Church and retired from Drayton Mills after 30 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Linda Evans Horne, of the home; sons, Ronald Horne (Debbie), and Gary Horne, all of Spartanburg; daughters, Joy Wheeler (Robert) of Spartanburg, and Stacie Horne of the home; grandchildren, Monica and Chad Horne of Spartanburg; and two grandsons, Cody and Adam Wheeler, of Spartanburg, who had a special bond with their Papa; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Allison Horne of Spartanburg; sisters, Francis McArthur of Inman, and Amanda Clark of Newnan, GA; and a brother, Cecil Horne of Chesnee. He was predeceased by three brothers, Burdette, Jim, and Hoyle Horne; and a sister, Peggy Hammitt. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 PM Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, July 1, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Barry Snead and the Rev. Keith Davis. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
