Norma Wright

Norma Emma Whitt Wright, 88, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, January 9, 2011, at Rosecrest Retirement Home in Inman, SC. Born June 15, 1922 in Cowpens, SC, she was the daughter of the late Frank Wilbur and Nellie Jane Calvert Whitt. She was a longtime member of Clifton Second Baptist Church, which she attended faithfully until declining health prevented her from doing so. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Eugene Wright; her daughter, Jeannie Gibbs (Gary) of New Prospect, SC; her sons, David Wright (Susan) of Mayo, and Larry Wright of Kalispell, Montana; her sisters, Alba W. Threadgill and Frankie W. Chapman of Spartanburg; her grandchildren, Gary Gibbs, Jr., Caroline Gibbs Smith, Jessica Wright, and Ashley Wright; and her great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Madison, and Lily Gibbs and Grayson Smith. Mrs. Wright was predeceased by her sisters, Virginia Whitt and Marie W. Taylor; her brothers, Samuel, Wilbur, and Preston Whitt; and her great-granddaughter, Sarah Beth Gibbs. Visitation will be held 1-1:45 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2 p.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. William T. Howard. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Clifton Second Baptist Church, 440 Dogwood Club Road, Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family will be at the home.
