Norma Henderson Powell 82 of Spartanburg, South Carolina passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, August 12, 2024. Norma was born on June 29, 1942, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to the late Edgar and Minnie Henderson.
A graduate of Boiling Springs High School, Norma continued to enrich her knowledge throughout her life. Norma had a fulfilling career at MEMC in Moore, SC, where she dedicated 20 years of service in the Training and Human Resource departments. She was a member of Fernwood Baptist Church for over a decade where she enjoyed the fellowship of her Alma Hudson Sunday School Class.
Norma's witty and vibrant personality shone through in her love for sports, particularly college football and the Georgia Bulldogs. She enjoyed trips to the beach, indulging in tomato sandwiches, and being an avid reader. In the hearts of the ones who knew her best, Norma's proudest accomplishments included her active involvement in the preschool department and helping with children's activities at her church, as well as being apart of and supporting her children and grandchildren's daily endeavors.
Norma leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, she is survived by her children; a daughter; Lee Anne Bailie (Bailey); son, David Powell (Sarah); four grandchildren; Benjamin Vitale (Anna), John David Powell, Mabel Powell and Juneanne Powell; 2 nieces; Cathy Billington and Alissa Clark, and one nephew; Chris McDowell. Norma was predeceased by both her parents Edgar Henderson and Minnie Cannon Henderson, 2 sisters; Patricia Brock, and Linda McDowell; a nephew; Randy Brock and her precious dachshund, Buster.
A memorial service will be held to honor Norma Sunday, August 18, 2024, at 2pm at Fernwood Baptist Church located at 200 Fernwood Dr. Spartanburg, SC 29307. Visitation will follow immediately after the memorial service.
