Norma Newman

Norma Jean Rogers Newman, 73, of 34 Angler Drive, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 28, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born March 15, 1936, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late William A. Rogers, Sr. and Ibby Marie Halliday Rogers. She was retired and an active member of Milestones Church. She was a member of the "West-End Girls" consisting of Kay, Barbara, Trick and Peggy, all of which were lifelong friends from school. She enjoyed her quality time with them, as well as all of her friends and family. Mrs. Newman was an honorary member of The Spartanburg Police Club where she volunteered countless hours with their special projects. She is survived by three sons, Eddie Ridgeway and his wife Carol of Simpsonville, Thomas Newman and his fianc Paty Mendoza of Moore, and Shade Newman and his fiance' Gina Hendricks of Greenville; a daughter, Dena Bailey and her husband Don of Spartanburg; seventeen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and their families. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Visitation will be 12:00-1:45 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2010, at Floyds Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Hub Blankenship and the Rev. Kenneth Harmon. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
