Nita Williams

Nita Pierce Williams, 95, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, January 16, 2016, at White Oak Manor-Spartanburg. Born July 24, 1920, in Laurens, SC, she was the daughter of the late D. J. and Madia Belle Reese Pierce, the last surviving member of her immediate family, and widow of Luther D. Williams, Sr. Mrs. Williams was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Spartanburg and a charter member of Morningside Baptist Church. Survivors include her children, Toby L. Hammitt, Maxine W. Sprouse (Curtis), Luther David Williams, Jr., all of Spartanburg, SC, and Lucerne W. Iseman (Harold) of Columbia, SC; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Sal Barone. Visitation will follow the chapel service. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 901 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or SOAR Program, c/o Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, 5637 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212.
