Nettie Lovonia Vaughn Hendrix, 92, widow of Hubert Clifford Hendrix, went to her Heavenly home Friday, March 11, 2022, at White Oak Estates. Born September 1, 1929 in Simpsonville, SC, she was a daughter of the late Willie Brite and Sally Corrie Lawson Vaughn.
Mrs. Hendrix was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Spartanburg. She was a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of South Carolina, a life member of the GFWC Past State President’s Club, GFWC Past State Junior Directors Club and the Spartanburg Women’s Club. She was a charter member of the Jubilee Club, the Spartanburg Council of Federated Women’s Club, past president of the Jaycettes of Spartanburg, past director of FACT Cancer Association and served on the boards of the Speech and Hearing Association, the Spartanburg Girls Home, the Spartanburg Arts Council and the Spartanburg Little Theatre. She was a charter member of the Pinckney District Chapter of the South Carolina Genealogical Society. She volunteered with four PTA’s, the United Way of the Piedmont and numerous other community organizations.
Survivors are two daughters, Amy Hendrix Howell (Cliff) and Laura Hendrix Corbin and a son, Lee William Hendrix (Jill), all of Spartanburg, SC; Nancy Hendrix, daughter-in-law; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hendrix was predeceased by a son, Clifford Deyle Hendrix.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 18, 2022, from 4:00-7:00 PM, at the home of Laura Hendrix Corbin.
